Turkey Red Treasure
I bought this quilt on Ebay last week and it arrived today, it's a double width square quilt and its made using beautiful Turkey Red fabric, I can't say if this was dyed in the Vale of Leven but it's more than possible. It's a little worn especially in the corners and the batting is poking out in these areas. The batting is cotton wadding and there is no binding, the edges are turned in on themselves and then stitched. It's machine stitched with black thread. I need to do some research on the cotton wadding to see what date this was introduced, but the fabric would suggest the 1890's. It's absolutely gorgeous in my eyes and its worth every penny of the £11 I paid.

Bit Late for Halloween - but !!
I was in Bishop Burton near Beverley the week before last, it's a beautiful village and they were gearing up for Halloween / Bonfire Night. They were running a competition and many of the villagers had made entries. I'm not sure what the brief was but this entry still has me chuckling
